This small group of people who had already been through some training, who were really interested in Czech and who already had quite a wide experience and high language level B2/C1 was a nice and interesting experience for me. 3 students (Dutch, Polish, Romanian) were so good in Czech that after working on enhancement of vocabulary, Czech spelling and Czech Aspect-imperfective and perfective verbs and phrasal verbs we continued with a newspaper text and in the end “reading with understanding”.
To make the lesson interesting I chose 3 pearls of the Czech fiction: Povídky -K.Čapek, Cesta do zaslíbené země- L. Fuks, Ostrov mrtvých králů- I.Klíma. That gave the lesson a frame in which students could experience Czech language as a whole and also to feel how the best Czech narators work with tha language in an artistic way.
