Albertov Intensive Semestral course for Beginners; Sept 2008 – Jan 2009

Five hours a day for five months-that was a duration of the language course and for lots of the people a  friendly “start of the life in the Czech republic”. This unforgetable friendly group of 12 dedicated students from 8 different countries (Holland, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Korea, Venezuela, Cyprus, Turkey)  managed to go beyond the  basics of Czech language and develop communicative skills on A2 level. Within the time the people also got to know Czech culture and lots of them as time was passing “almost asimilated with the Czech environment”. We had a great time together also meeting “out of the school”. Lots of the students continued studying Czech which brough them even to B2 level and I hope this course was a great start and motivation to go on with the Czech.
The course programme followed the “traditional” school syllabus, the basic textbook “Communicative Czech” was enriched by “Easy Czech” and my own materials. The improvement was not only  controlled by month tests but it was also  visible week after week as students were really into Czech.  We managed to learn the basics of the Czech declination system (all cases in singular)  and conjugation in real life situations. The goal was to be able to express ourseleves in basic topics and to follow basic conversations with the Czech native speaker. Lots of reading, writing, listening and drill was balanced with  active learning activities, talking, pairworks, discussions and games.
