Intensive Czech for Citizenship 2010-2012

It was a great to work with this student. He was eager to study, hardworking and always motivated.  The goal was to stabilize his knowledge of grammar (B1)and to strenghten his ability to correctly use grammar in everyday speech. The Czech declination system is “wide” and as we have 7.cases, 3 genders as well as singular and plural….it´s often not very easy to keep all the information in your head while speaking or writing. The challenge was not to lose what the student had already achieved and thanks to his day to day interactions with Czechs  also to keep absorbing new information and skills.

The study plan was intensive and since we were meeting two times he improved quickly.  We used “Krok za krokem” as our textbook to widen his knowledge of grammar in everyday usage and to practise vocabulary. We also used my own materials to  help us deepen his  grammar and vocabulary  knowledge and to practise what was needed for real life communication. We also used newspapers to cover “everyday life topics” in which the student was very interested, “Chcete mluvit česky 2” to practise phrasal verbs, czech aspect-imperfective/perfective verbs, idioms, and usage of cases with prepositions, “Čeština pro život” to enrich his  colloquial Czech, vocabulary and phrases, “Připravujeme se k certifikované zkoušce z češtiny 1” to prepare for the the exam.
