This intimate group of people taught me several skills:to be patient, not to expect always too much but still to be focused on the goal, to adjust the lesson to very different types of students so that everyone is improving and the tempo is still somehow going on. Students from Turkey, Iceland, France…very colorful setting of the group. The art was to vary the same grammar or dialogue, text, vocabs and always to come up with “the new” version.
The “drill hidden under the garment of some sort of funny activity” worked the best.
This experience also brought me an appreciation for the learning process and for people who are working very hard on learning a very different language. Using the textbook “Czech Express”, “Easy Czech”, “Step by Step”.
